The TSGP, a key lever for energy integration in Africa
ALGIERS - The Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, whose Algerian section was launched into construction on Thursday in the Wilaya of Adrar, constitutes a strategic lever to strengthen African energy integration, broaden access to energy and stimulate the economic development of the countries concerned, stressed the executive director of the African Energy Commission (AFREC), Rashid Ali Abdallah.

The training, hosted from 4th to 6th May 2026, brought together senior experts from ministries responsible for energy, national statistical offices, and specialised technical institutions from 25 African Union Member States.

The African Energy Commission (AFREC), in partnership with the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Zambia, has successfully conducted a five-day hybrid training workshop on electricity distribution grid loss determination and action planning aimed at enhancing energy efficiency in distribution grids across Africa. The training brought together over 50 experts from more than 20 African countries, including representatives from energy ministries, utilities, regulators, academia, and regional energy institutions.
