Access to #electricity is a critical contributor towards #economicgrowth and #sustainabledevelopment. However, in #Africa, more than half the population still lacks electricity, and the #methodologies for measuring access continue to significantly vary across countries he African Union Member States. This lack of #harmonisation poses a challenge in comparing progress and setting clear policy goals in Africa.
This “Measuring Electricity Access in Africa” webinar therefore brought together panellists in the energy sectors from Kenya, Benin, and Senegal as well as presentations from #AFREC, The World Bank, and the International Energy Agency (IEA). The webinar provided insights on the need for a harmonised methodology to measure electricity access, and to propose a roadmap for effective tracking under the #Mission300 target to provide electricity to 300 million #Africans by 2030
