Eco Efficient Power Transformers Workshop Description
The proposal seeks to design, organize, and deliver, jointly with the ECOWAS Centre of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREE), the African Development Bank, the Association of Power Utilities of Africa, the Global Sustainable Electricity Partnership and the International Cooper Alliance a half-day tailored remote Capacity Building Training Sessions on Energy Efficient and Eco-Designed Power Distribution Transformers for the member countries of the regions, in order to introduce the Integrated Policy Approach of United for Efficiency to catalyze and orient the work already done in the region and to extend the results to energy efficient Digital Power Transformers.
Such training will bring key stakeholders from the region together to share the vision on the local Transformers market and to identify the barriers, resources and mechanisms to pursue its transformation to more energy efficient alternatives. In addition, it will allow the exchange of experiences, develop skills, and share knowledge and ideas on the energy efficient Distribution Transformers sphere. Policymakers will be encouraged to collaborate towards the harmonization of standards according to international best practices, and to share resources (e.g. market monitoring and regional test laboratory instead of one in each country), lessons learned and knowledge in each country (including for financing and incentives) to accelerate the switch to much more energy efficient solutions.
